Ingredients:
- 1 head of cabbage
- 5 slices of bacon, cut into small strips or pieces
- 3 tsp. of olive oil or you can use the grease from the bacon after it is cooked
- 1/2 of a yellow onion, finely chopped
- 1/2 tsp. of paprika
- 1/4 tsp. of garlic powder
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 1 cup of full-fat sour cream
- 1 cup shredded Mozzarella cheese
Directions:
Preheat oven to 375°F. Spray a 9” by 13” glass baking dish with cooking spray.
Slice the bacon into thin small strips or pieces.
Cut the core out of the head of cabbage, then cut it into thin strips.
Finely chop the onion.
Fry bacon pieces or strips over medium high heat until browned and crispy if preferred. Place bacon on a paper towel to blot the grease off with another paper towel.
Heat olive oil or use the grease from the bacon in a large skillet and add chopped onion. Cook on medium heat until the onion is browned then add strips of cabbage. Season with garlic, salt, pepper, and paprika and cook cabbage until it is soft.
Add in the bacon pieces and combine well with the cabbage. Cook for a few minutes to allow the flavors to meld together.
Add the cabbage mixture into the glass baking dish then mix in the sour cream. Add mozzarella cheese to the top of the mixture then bake for about 25 minutes or until the top is browned.
Serve it up to your family and friends and have a Happy St. Patrick’s Day!
